A day in the life of... the Head of Ecommerce at Molzi
Ricky Goodwin is Molzi’s Head of Ecommerce. Since he leads all of our account managers to ensure client success, he is one of the busiest members of Team Molzi, which makes him very hard to pin down. Luckily, we did! Find out what he had to say about his job as part of the ever-expanding team of Molzi.
What does a typical working day look like?
My typical working day has a high level of variability, from recruiting the very best Amazon Account Managers through to strategising and on-boarding new Amazon accounts. Most of my day though is dedicated to supporting the account management teams which surprisingly requires a high level of Excel. I’m also not afraid to do the washing up and take the recycling out when the need arises.
What kind of skills do you tend to use daily?
The skills I use the most are a mixture of negotiation and collaboration, whilst having the empathy and tenacity to ensure things are moving in the right direction. This includes helping drive the business forward with energising both internal and external teams. As with most roles you need a high level of resilience.
What is the best part of your day?
The thing I love most about my role is the high degree of variability it holds. Also, being able to support and guide businesses to really deliver the best experience for the customer is very humbling.
What is the worst part of your day?
Tough question! I wouldn’t say I have a worst part of the day, although I do get frustrated when that dreaded error message comes up on a new excel formula you have been working on.
What is the one key issue that you have noticed from your job that brands struggle with the most?
Brand’s needs are very individual, lots do struggle with the faceless business that Amazon is. Sometimes what may seem a simple issue can take time to resolve which can lead to a lot of frustration.
How best can they fix it?
This really comes down to patience, perseverance and tenacity. Understanding the needs and triggers of the person you are liaising with will often guide them into resolving an issue. However, this is not an exact science. Ultimately, Amazon is the gate keeper for the customer and will take the appropriate action based on the vast data they have to ensure the experience is the best it can be.

What do I love about working at Molzi? It must be the people, both the internal teams and our clients, they really are a great bunch, You can build good relationships, support each other and have fun getting the job done.
